Senior Backend Engineer – Python, Java

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines primarily utilizing Python on Google Cloud Platform.

• Create new backend functionalities using Python while also maintaining and enhancing existing Java services.

• Utilize Python frameworks, testing tools, APIs, and cloud services to provide dependable and scalable backend solutions.

• Integrate AI/LLM functionalities into backend applications and support contemporary AI-driven workflows.

• Upgrade and optimize cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability.

• Utilize GitHub Copilot and other AI-assisted development tools to enhance engineering productivity and code quality.

• Identify, prioritize, and address security vulnerabilities to ensure application safety and protect data.

• Perform code reviews, advocate for engineering best practices, maintain high test coverage, and create technical documentation.

• Collaborate with product, data, and infrastructure teams to implement backend solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–8+ years of professional backend engineering experience with a strong focus on Python development skills.

• Extensive hands-on experience in building scalable backend services, REST APIs, and data pipelines using Python.

• Professional experience with Java, including maintaining, troubleshooting, and contributing to existing Java services.

• Familiarity with Python backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.

• Experience with testing frameworks like pytest.

• Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-native architectures.

• Experience in designing and maintaining microservices and distributed systems.

• Knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI/ML backend integration patterns.

• Proficiency in using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.

• Application security experience in identifying and remediating vulnerabilities in the codebase and its dependencies.

• Excellent communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.

• Strong written and verbal proficiency in English.
