
Senior Backend Engineer – Monitoring and Anomaly Detection

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Design, construct, and manage metrics, logs, and traces throughout the Monetization stack utilizing tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
• Establish automated detection mechanisms for billing, data, and event anomalies, directing alerts to the appropriate feature teams.
• Create reconciliation processes and data integrity checks for usage and billing pipelines.
• Set and monitor service reliability targets (SLOs) and service level indicators (SLIs) to evaluate reliability, document runbooks, and participate in incident management.
• Investigate artificial intelligence and machine learning methodologies to forecast system anomalies and expedite resolution.
• Review merge requests and provide constructive feedback to fellow Monetization engineers.
• Collaborate with Product, Finance, Support, and other stakeholders to transform operational requirements into dependable tooling.
• Professional expertise in Ruby on Rails.
• A background in site reliability or observability engineering, encompassing monitoring, alerting, SLOs, SLIs, runbooks, incident management, and tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
• Experience in developing anomaly detection, monitoring, or risk management tools.
• Familiarity with data stores for reporting and insights, particularly ClickHouse, along with the change data capture and event streaming pipelines that support them, such as Siphon and NATS JetStream.
• Proven experience with billing, financial, or other mission-critical systems.
• Track record of overseeing a project from inception to production, including proposal, discussion, execution, and monitoring.
• Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly about complex technical, architectural, and organizational issues in English, with a talent for proposing comprehensive, iterative solutions in a remote and primarily asynchronous work setting.
• Additional relevant experience includes proficiency in Python for anomaly detection and data-related tasks, and familiarity with Zuora or Salesforce.
