Senior Backend Engineer – Databases

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Oversee projects from initial concept through to implementation

• Design, construct, and manage essential elements of a distributed database

• Engage directly with clients to influence the product roadmap

• Promote operational excellence by setting SLOs and cost efficiency targets

• Work collaboratively across teams to improve product usability

• Take part in on-call responsibilities and assist in incident management

• Contribute to the open-source community and guide project direction

• Extensive experience with a systems programming language (Go, Rust, C, C++, Python, Java)

• Proven experience in building and managing distributed systems in a production environment

• Strong understanding of product development and excellent customer interaction skills

• A curious mindset with the courage to question established norms

• Proficient in software craftsmanship and writing maintainable code

• Operational mindset with experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices

• Ability to pragmatically break down complex challenges into manageable tasks

• Excellent communication skills in a fully remote working environment
