Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and develop essential backend services, which include data modeling, compliance logic, and internal platforms that facilitate large-scale tax automation.

• Create scalable systems to monitor, compute, and apply transaction taxes across diverse jurisdictions and industries.

• Develop and sustain our domain model concerning tax regulations, jurisdictions, thresholds, and impositions.

• Establish automation pipelines for filings, payments, and customer workflows.

• Utilize browser automation, scripting, and task queues to minimize manual work in compliance processes.

• Employ LLMs and programmatic tools to improve tax research, rule extraction, and error management.

• Collaborate with engineering, tax, and product teams to transform intricate policies into scalable software solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a significant emphasis on backend development.

• Extensive experience in designing systems, services, and data models within complex domains.

• Proficient in our backend technology stack: Python (FastAPI, Pydantic, pandas, duckdb), Postgres, SQL, with infrastructure running on AWS.

• Exceptional attention to detail, as our credibility with customers hinges on accuracy and precision.

• Strong communication abilities; we prioritize written clarity, especially in cross-functional collaborations.

• A proactive individual who can spearhead projects, make architectural decisions, and work independently.

• Recognized for delivering a substantial amount of high-quality code swiftly, while taking full ownership of the process.
