Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and libraries for IsoMetrix's cloud-native SaaS platform.

• Write clean, organized, and testable code.

• Contribute to architectural decisions and help evolve a scalable, secure, multi-tenant platform.

• Create reusable components and libraries.

• Design and implement RESTful APIs and services utilized by web and mobile clients.

• Construct event-driven and asynchronous components using message queues like Azure Service Bus.

• Ensure performance, scalability, and cross-platform compatibility across services.

• Maintain software quality through unit, integration, and automated testing.

• Engage in code reviews and uphold engineering best practices and coding standards.

• Develop secure solutions with a focus on data protection and multi-tenancy.

• Support continuous improvement, refactoring, and performance optimization of existing services.

• Collaborate within an Agile team alongside engineers, QA, product managers, and designers.

• Work with stakeholders to translate functional and technical requirements into effective software solutions.

• Mentor and assist other engineers, sharing knowledge and enhancing engineering standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Substantial commercial experience as a backend software engineer, including time in a senior or lead role.

• Demonstrated history of designing, developing, and delivering production software on the .NET stack.

• Experience in designing and utilizing RESTful APIs and web services.

• Proficient in working with relational databases and crafting efficient SQL queries.

• Experience in building and deploying cloud-based applications, preferably on Microsoft Azure.

• Familiarity with AI both as a product offering and integrated within workflows.

• Strong proficiency in C# and ASP.NET Core (.NET 10 / .NET Core).

• Knowledge of Entity Framework Core.

• Experience in RESTful API design and development.

• Competence in SQL and relational database design, such as Azure SQL / SQL Server.

• Understanding of architectural patterns and principles, such as Vertical Slice Architecture.

• Experience with cloud services and tools, ideally on the Microsoft Azure platform, including Azure Web Apps and Azure SQL.

• Proficiency in source control using Git and GitHub.

• Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

• Good time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

• Preferred: experience with message queues, such as Azure Service Bus.

• Preferred: experience in building multi-tenant, multi-lingual SaaS applications.

• Preferred: familiarity with JavaScript, TypeScript, and Vue.js.

• Preferred: exposure to the EHS, ESG, or Governance, Risk, and Compliance domains.

• Preferred: knowledge of .NET Aspire.

• Preferred: experience with observability using OpenTelemetry.

• Preferred: familiarity with identity and access technologies, including OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect.

• Preferred: understanding of resilience patterns, including retries, timeouts, and circuit breakers.

• Preferred: experience with distributed caching using Redis.
