Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and enhance product capabilities.

• Address substantial backend challenges and shape both technical and product strategies.

• Create and deliver moderately complex to advanced backend features with minimal supervision.

• Make informed decisions regarding modular-monolith code, shared components, and independently functioning services.

• Advocate for high standards of product quality, security, availability, and performance.

• Establish backend standards regarding style, maintainability, testing, APIs, and operational readiness.

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

• Eliminate technical obstacles and enhance team delivery practices through code and design evaluations.

• Identify and mitigate performance and reliability issues at scale.

• Engage in incident response and serve as a technical lead when necessary.

• Integrate AI into production engineering tasks, assess its efficiency, and guide others on responsible application.

• Collaborate across product, frontend, infrastructure, data, and security domains.

• Work alongside PMs and designers to define requirements and deliver user value.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong understanding of backend architecture, APIs, data systems, and performance optimization in a complex product or service context.

• Expertise in modern backend programming languages.

• Comprehensive knowledge of systems programming.

• Experience in designing or evolving modular backend boundaries, bounded contexts, and architectures that are safe for migration.

• Capability to lead through influence, technical insight, and effective written communication.

• Demonstrated experience in building or managing agentic systems in production, including architecting loops, tool usage, and error-handling methodologies.

• Familiarity with high-throughput distributed systems, concurrency, or performance profiling.

• Practical experience with containerized production environments, such as Kubernetes.

• In-depth knowledge of database performance, including PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, schema evolution, and partitioning.

• Experience with large-scale modular monoliths or event-driven architectures.

• Public technical communication, open-source project maintenance, or background in developer-focused SaaS.
