Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and develop essential backend services and infrastructure for the observability platform.

• Ensure the reliability and high throughput of data pipelines and APIs.

• Collaborate with contributors from the open-source community as well as customers.

• Address challenges faced by the community and customers, incorporating their feedback into the backend architecture and API design.

• Design and implement scalable systems for the ingestion, processing, and querying of petabytes of observability data.

• Create foundational services that aid engineers in diagnosing production issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on backend development.

• Preference for candidates with experience in building developer tools or infrastructure.

• Proficient in TypeScript and Node.js.

• Familiarity with Express, Fastify, or comparable frameworks.

• Strong comprehension of API design, distributed systems, and data modeling.

• Experience with Go is advantageous.

• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes is beneficial.

• A passion for open source and the developer community.

• Experience in creating developer tooling.

• Familiarity with ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, or other analytical/OLTP databases is a plus.

• Understanding of OpenTelemetry, logging pipelines, or metrics infrastructure is a bonus.

• Experience in SDKs or client library design is a plus.

• Exposure to Kafka, NATS, message queues, streaming systems, or event-driven architectures is a bonus.
