Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and develop essential backend services and infrastructure for the ClickStack observability platform.

• Ensure the reliability of high-throughput data pipelines and APIs.

• Collaborate with open-source contributors as well as customers.

• Address community and customer challenges while integrating feedback into backend architecture and API design.

• Design and implement scalable backend systems for ingesting, processing, and querying petabytes of observability data.

• Create foundational services that assist engineers in diagnosing production issues.

• Occasionally contribute to services developed in Go.

• Play a role in shaping the company culture within a rapidly growing startup.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience with a strong emphasis on backend development.

• Preference for candidates with experience in building developer tools or infrastructure.

• Proficient in TypeScript and Node.js.

• Experience with Express, Fastify, or comparable frameworks.

• Strong understanding of API design, distributed systems, and data modeling.

• Experience with Go is advantageous.

• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.

• A passion for open source and the developer community.

• Experience in creating developer tooling.

• Familiarity with ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, or other analytical/OLTP databases is a plus.

• Knowledge of OpenTelemetry, logging pipelines, or metrics infrastructure is a bonus.

• Experience in SDKs or client library design is a bonus.

• Exposure to Kafka, NATS, message queues, streaming systems, or event-driven architectures is a bonus.

• Must be able to work in the United States/current location and respond to work sponsorship questions during the application process.
