Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures tailored for AI-driven media workflows.

• Create robust data pipelines, database schemas, and caching layers (PostgreSQL, Redis) to manage large volumes of media content.

• Collaborate with machine learning researchers and engineers to integrate model inference and training workflows into production backend systems.

• Implement application-level logging, metrics, and alerting; actively engage in performance profiling, root-cause analysis, and resolution of production incidents alongside our DevOps team.

• Optimize server-side code, asynchronous queues, and database queries to achieve low latency, high throughput, and high availability.

• Partner with frontend and product teams to ensure API contracts make complex generative AI functionalities easy to use.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, focusing primarily on server-side Python development.

• Demonstrated experience in building scalable RESTful APIs, microservices, and asynchronous/event-driven systems.

• Strong background in relational database design (e.g., PostgreSQL) and experience with caching/memory stores (e.g., Redis).

• Familiarity with production observability practices (logging, monitoring, alerting) and a systematic approach to debugging, testing, and incident response.

• Practical experience utilizing AI development tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, LLM APIs) to enhance coding efficiency while upholding high standards for code quality, test coverage, and architectural integrity.

• Understanding of fundamental AI concepts (e.g., the operational distinctions, latency requirements, and resource profiles between model training and inference).

• Basic knowledge of modern JavaScript/TypeScript and web development principles—sufficient to collaborate effectively with UI engineers or create internal prototypes.
