This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.
• Design, develop, and sustain scalable backend applications utilizing TypeScript and Node.js.
• Create high-performance RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Design and enhance relational and NoSQL database architectures.
• Employ AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, or similar) as a core component of the software development lifecycle, encompassing implementation, testing, debugging, and code reviews.
• Produce clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code adhering to best engineering practices.
• Collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, QA engineers, and other cross-functional team members.
• Engage in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decision-making.
• Enhance application performance, scalability, and security.
• Integrate third-party services and APIs.
• Compose and maintain technical documentation.
• Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to other developers when necessary.
• Keep abreast of emerging backend technologies, frameworks, and engineering best practices.
• Operate within an agile environment with a strong emphasis on delivering high-quality software.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong professional background in TypeScript and Node.js backend development.
• Familiarity with frameworks such as NestJS, Express.js, or similar.
• Experience in designing scalable backend architectures.
• Extensive experience in database design, data modeling, and SQL databases.
• Proven track record of using AI-assisted coding tools (such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, or similar) to enhance productivity while maintaining code quality, security, and engineering best practices.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and/or NoSQL databases.
• Proven experience in building REST APIs.
• Knowledge of asynchronous programming.
• Experience in monitoring and debugging production systems.
• Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger for API documentation.
• Strong understanding of software design principles.
• Proficient with Git and Docker.
• Experience deploying applications to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or modern hosting platforms such as Railway and Supabase.
• Experience in writing automated tests and ensuring code quality.
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
• Fluent in both spoken and written English.
