Senior Backend Developer, Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications utilizing Python.

• Create high-performance RESTful APIs and backend services.

• Design and optimize both relational and NoSQL database models.

• Incorporate AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, or similar) throughout the software development lifecycle, covering implementation, testing, debugging, and code reviews.

• Produce clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code adhering to best engineering practices.

• Collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, QA engineers, and other cross-functional team members.

• Engage in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decision-making processes.

• Enhance application performance, scalability, and security.

• Integrate third-party services and APIs seamlessly.

• Author and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.

• Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to other developers when necessary.

• Keep abreast of emerging backend technologies, frameworks, and engineering best practices.

• Operate in an agile environment with a strong emphasis on delivering high-quality software.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• A minimum of 5 years of professional backend development experience.

• Strong professional experience in building backend applications using Python.

• Significant experience with FastAPI (preferred), Django, Flask, or similar Python backend frameworks.

• Proficient in designing scalable backend architectures.

• Extensive experience in database design, data modeling, and SQL databases.

• Proven track record of utilizing AI-assisted coding tools (such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, or similar) to enhance productivity while ensuring code quality, security, and adherence to engineering best practices.

• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and/or NoSQL databases.

• Familiarity with building REST APIs.

• Background in asynchronous programming.

• Experience in monitoring and debugging production systems.

• Knowledge of OpenAPI/Swagger for API documentation.

• Strong understanding of software design principles.

• Proficient in using Git and Docker.

• Experience deploying applications on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or modern hosting platforms such as Railway, Supabase.

• Experience in writing automated tests and ensuring code quality.

• Excellent problem-solving skills.

• Fluent in spoken and written English.
