Senior Backend Developer – Magento

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• In this role, you will report directly to a manager based in the UK and serve as a vital member of the engineering team, focusing on the technical advancement of robust ecommerce platforms.

• Your daily activities will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, tackling intricate architectural challenges, and actively engaging with clients.

• Your key responsibilities will include:

• Designing and developing custom Magento 2 modules, backend functionalities, and secure system integrations.

• Working closely with clients to collect technical requirements, convert business needs into scalable code, and demonstrate features through interactive presentations.

• Enhancing and troubleshooting application performance, database queries, and backend infrastructure to maintain peak security and efficiency.

• Promoting team success by performing detailed code reviews, participating in morning stand-ups, and mentoring colleagues through pair programming.

• Collaborating intimately with designers, product managers, and customer experience (CX) specialists to create seamless end-to-end user experiences.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong Magento 2 Expertise: Over 5 years of demonstrated experience with Magento 2 architecture, custom module development, and core backend configuration.

• Advanced Backend Knowledge: Extensive proficiency in PHP development and MySQL database optimization.

• API Integration Skills: Hands-on experience in building and consuming REST and SOAP web services.

• Modern Dev Tools: Strong understanding of Git version control and experience in building automated CI/CD pipelines.

• Superb Communication: Ability to articulate complex technical trade-offs in simple terms during client-facing interactions.

• Collaborative Mindset: A proactive approach to problem-solving and a passion for achieving team success.

• Bonus Points For Cloud Solutions: Familiarity with Adobe Commerce Cloud, AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Search & Performance Utilities: Knowledge of Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or the Symfony framework.

• Infrastructure & Queues: Experience with message brokers (RabbitMQ, Kafka) and containerization tools like Docker or Kubernetes.

• Frontend Awareness: Basic understanding of standard frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) or modern frameworks like Hyvä, AlpineJS, and TailwindCSS.

• Methodologies & Credentials: Current Magento / Adobe Commerce Certifications or experience within Agile/Scrum methodologies.
