Senior Back End Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design and develop backend microservices adhering to clean architecture principles across domain, application, infrastructure, and API layers.

• Construct and sustain REST and/or GraphQL APIs, establishing data contracts along with consistent request and response models.

• Implement and utilize event-driven workflows across message queues, including webhook management, retry mechanisms, and error handling protocols.

• Create data models and execute persistence logic for NoSQL and/or relational databases utilizing repository and unit-of-work patterns.

• Implement JWT-based authentication and authorization mechanisms with identity providers like Keycloak or similar services.

• Develop unit, integration, and BDD-style tests while ensuring adequate test coverage.

• Establish and manage CI/CD pipelines for cloud deployment, including containerized services on platforms like AWS ECS.

• Engage in code reviews, maintain engineering standards, and provide mentorship to junior developers.

• Collaborate with architects, QA teams, and developers to address integration challenges, clarify requirements, and deliver time-sensitive features across services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software development experience in building backend services using modern object-oriented or statically typed languages, such as C#/.NET or Java.

• Proven experience in designing and developing microservices, including REST and/or GraphQL APIs.

• Strong understanding of clean architecture or similar layered design patterns, ensuring a clear distinction between domain, application, and infrastructure concerns.

• Experience with NoSQL and/or relational databases, encompassing schema and data modeling as well as query optimization.

• Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and message queues, such as AWS SQS/SNS or equivalent services.

• Proficient in writing automated tests (unit, integration, and/or BDD) and incorporating them into a CI/CD pipeline.

• Comfortable operating within an agile team setting, effectively prioritizing tasks under sprint deadlines.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of early and direct communication of blockers, gaps, and risks.

• Familiar with disciplined AI-assisted software development practices, including specification-driven development, TDD, and iterative refactoring.

• Capable of mentoring engineers in the effective use of AI coding tools within structured development workflows.

• Preferred: Backend experience with ASP.NET Core and related tools (e.g., MediatR/CQRS, xUnit, Reqnroll/BDD, FluentValidation) or equivalent technology stack in another language.

• Preferred: AWS experience (ECS, SQS, SNS, or similar managed container/queue services).

• Preferred: Familiarity with Docker and containerized deployments.

• Preferred: Background in e-commerce, order management, or similar transactional domains.

• Preferred: Knowledge of identity providers such as Keycloak or Azure AD for authentication and authorization.

• Preferred: Experience with integrating third-party platforms via webhooks, such as storefront platforms or payment processors.
