Senior Back End Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design and develop backend microservices adhering to clean architecture principles across the domain, application, infrastructure, and API layers.

• Create and manage REST and/or GraphQL APIs, establishing data contracts along with consistent request and response models.

• Implement and utilize event-driven processes through message queues, including handling webhooks, retry mechanisms, and error management.

• Design data models and execute persistence logic against NoSQL and/or relational databases using repository and unit-of-work patterns.

• Implement JWT-based authentication and authorization mechanisms with identity providers like Keycloak or similar services.

• Write unit, integration, and BDD-style tests while ensuring test coverage is maintained.

• Develop and sustain CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, and deploying to the cloud, including containerized services on managed platforms like AWS ECS.

• Engage in code reviews, uphold engineering standards, and mentor junior developers.

• Collaborate with architects, QA, and developers to address integration gaps, clarify requirements, and deliver sprint features across multiple services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software development experience in building backend services using modern object-oriented or statically typed languages, such as C#/.NET or Java.

• Proven experience in designing and constructing microservices, including REST and/or GraphQL APIs.

• Strong understanding of clean architecture or comparable layered design patterns, ensuring a clear distinction between domain, application, and infrastructure concerns.

• Experience with NoSQL and/or relational databases, encompassing schema and data modeling as well as query optimization.

• Practical knowledge of event-driven architectures and message queues, such as AWS SQS/SNS or equivalent services.

• Experience in writing automated tests (unit, integration, and/or BDD) and integrating them into a CI/CD pipeline.

• Comfortable working in an agile team setting, with the ability to prioritize effectively under sprint deadlines.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to flag blockers, gaps, and risks early and directly.

• Familiarity with disciplined AI-assisted software development practices, including specification-driven development, TDD, and iterative refactoring.

• Capable of mentoring engineers on effectively utilizing AI coding tools within structured development workflows.

• Backend experience with ASP.NET Core and associated tooling (e.g., MediatR/CQRS, xUnit, Reqnroll/BDD, FluentValidation) or a comparable stack in another language.

• Experience with AWS (ECS, SQS, SNS, or similar managed container/queue services).

• Familiarity with Docker and containerized deployments.

• Background in e-commerce, order management, or similar transactional domains.

• Knowledge of identity providers like Keycloak or Azure AD for authentication and authorization.

• Experience integrating with third-party platforms via webhooks, such as storefront platforms or payment providers.
