Senior Back-End Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Moldova.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and deploy high-performance, multi-tenant services.

• Integrate with third-party services.

• Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, maintainability, and compliance with best practices.

• Develop unit, functional, and integration tests to cover your code.

• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and QA to deliver exceptional products.

• Engage in the complete software development lifecycle from concept to deployment, including ongoing maintenance.

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and enhance workflows for improved efficiency.

• Produce high-quality technical documentation to support engineering and product teams.

• Implement and uphold secure coding standards to protect against security vulnerabilities.

• Actively engage in SCRUM rituals.

• Take part in product planning and roadmap discussions.

• Mentor and guide junior engineers to elevate their skills.

• Foster continuous improvement by exploring alternatives and technologies, presenting them for architectural review.

• Document software design decisions, APIs, and processes to facilitate knowledge sharing and maintain technical clarity.

• Maintain publicly accessible API documentation.

• Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing applications, including bug fixes and performance enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, and maintaining server-side applications using Java and/or Kotlin.

• Proven track record in building and owning significant components of large-scale financial systems, payment platforms, banking systems, or other critical applications.

• Demonstrated expertise in designing and operating distributed systems, with a focus on scalability, reliability, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.

• Strong experience in data modeling, database architecture, and managing large-scale datasets and high-volume transactional data.

• Practical experience utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and technologies within software development workflows to enhance engineering productivity, code quality, automation, and system capabilities.

• Proven ability to take end-to-end ownership of complex engineering projects, from architecture and design through implementation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.

• Experience in designing and developing microservices-based architectures and high-availability, low-latency systems.

• Strong proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin, including the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC).

• Solid grasp of software architecture principles, design patterns, and engineering best practices.

• Experience in implementing secure software solutions with a strong security-focused mindset, especially in environments handling sensitive financial or transactional data.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and contemporary software delivery practices.

• Proficiency in version control systems, especially Git.

• Experience in writing comprehensive unit, functional, and integration tests.

• Experience in creating and maintaining technical documentation, API documentation, and software design specifications.

• Previous experience mentoring engineers, offering technical guidance, conducting code reviews, and enhancing engineering practices within a team.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, capable of functioning effectively in a fast-paced startup environment.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with the capacity to work cross-functionally with Product, QA, Compliance, and other business teams.
