Senior Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sri Lanka.

📋 Description

• Create, construct, and deliver automation solutions tailored to varied client environments.

• Assess and enhance existing automation processes.

• Oversee integrations and designated workstreams from requirements gathering and design through to build, testing, deployment, documentation, and handover.

• Analyze workflows and automations to spot inefficiencies and technical challenges.

• Offer practical implementation alternatives and guidance.

• Design scalable automation solutions across various platforms, systems, and workflows.

• Establish exception handling, monitoring, documentation, and operational support processes.

• Diagnose integration and workflow challenges.

• Assist medium to enterprise-level client engagements, including integration-centric and lift-and-shift workstreams.

• Collect and evaluate requirements, converting business processes into automation solutions.

• Document workflows, system processes, requirements, and implementation choices.

• Create workflow diagrams, SOPs, and handover documents.

• Ensure workflow visibility through Jira or similar platforms.

• Build reusable automation components, standardized recipes, integration templates, and internal playbooks.

• Recognize recurring requirements to enhance scalability and delivery efficiency.

• Participate in the ongoing improvement of automation practices and delivery processes.

• Collaborate with technical leads, solution teams, and stakeholders.

• Convey workflows, technical considerations, progress, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Provide written updates on delivery and engage in asynchronous communication.

• Work independently while contributing to the broader delivery team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Mid-to-senior level experience in Automation Engineering and/or System Integration.

• Robust hands-on experience with Workato or extensive expertise with n8n.

• Capability to design and implement automation workflows across various systems.

• Significant experience integrating SaaS applications through APIs, middleware, and data flows.

• Proficient in reverse-engineering existing workflows and identifying optimization opportunities.

• Familiar with REST APIs, integrations, and workflow automation.

• Experience with cloud platforms like Azure and/or AWS.

• Knowledge of Jira, Atlassian Suite, or comparable Kanban/Scrum tools.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to map, document, and clarify workflows and system processes.

• Business analyst mindset with skills in requirements gathering, outcome clarification, and workflow validation.

• Proficient in working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Professional demeanor in client-facing situations.

• Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and ability to work independently.

• Proactive approach to problem-solving.

• Ability to deliver comprehensive solutions with minimal supervision.
