Senior Application Programmer – Mainframe Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain intricate mainframe applications and software solutions.

• Analyze business and system requirements, converting them into scalable technical solutions.

• Create and uphold application architecture, technical specifications, and program documentation.

• Develop, test, debug, and implement software improvements and new functionalities.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to validate requirements and ensure successful delivery.

• Troubleshoot production issues while providing ongoing application support.

• Execute system integration tasks between hardware and software components.

• Conduct code reviews to ensure compliance with development standards and best practices.

• Optimize system performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.

• Ensure adherence to security, governance, and information assurance standards.

• Assess and recommend emerging technologies and process enhancements.

• Lead technical initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Equivalent professional experience may be accepted in place of formal education.

• At least 7 years of hands-on experience in mainframe application development and programming.

• A minimum of 7 years of experience with IMS, DB2, COBOL, and CICS in enterprise mainframe settings.

• Familiarity with software development lifecycle methodologies, including analysis, development, testing, deployment, and support.

• Experience with large-scale transactional systems and mission-critical applications.

• Proficient in COBOL.

• Familiar with Natural / SuperNatural.

• Experience in IMS DB/DC.

• Knowledge of DB2 / SQL.

• Proficient in Assembler.

• Experience with SAS.

• Familiarity with CICS.

• Knowledge of MF FOCUS.

• Experience with MVS JCL.

• Proficient in MVS TSO / ISPF.

• Familiarity with IBM OPTIM.

• Experience with FILE Manager.

• Knowledge of SPUFI.

• Experience with ICEMAN / ICETOOLS.

• Proficient in SORT.

• Knowledge of VSAM.

• Familiarity with CLIST.

• Experience with FTP.

• Proficient in DYL260 / DYL280.

• Familiar with CA Gen (CoolGen).

• Experience with CA Endevor.

• Knowledge of CA Spool.

• Familiarity with CA OM Web Viewer.

• Experience with IBM WebSphere.

• Proficient in Debugger.

• Familiarity with N2O.
