Senior Application Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and modernize enterprise applications that support essential business operations.

• Create, enhance, maintain, and resolve issues in applications utilizing Oracle Forms, PL/SQL, SQL, Shell scripting, and Java.

• Evaluate legacy applications alongside complex business and technical processes.

• Conduct application enhancements, fix bugs, provide production support, and execute technical troubleshooting.

• Develop and optimize Oracle SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, packages, triggers, and database processes.

• Maintain and improve Oracle Forms applications and their associated components.

• Create and uphold Unix/Linux Shell scripts for application processing, data movement, scheduling, and operational tasks.

• Develop or manage Java-based components and integrations.

• Assess application performance and pinpoint optimization prospects.

• Troubleshoot issues across application, database, middleware, and batch-processing layers.

• Engage in requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing, implementation, and production support.

• Facilitate application integrations with other enterprise systems.

• Review legacy functionality and identify opportunities for modernization, simplification, and decommissioning.

• Assist in transitioning legacy functionality to modern platforms and technologies.

• Document legacy functionality prior to modernization or retirement.

• Review code to identify dependencies, business rules, interfaces, and downstream effects.

• Create technical, design, support, and implementation documentation.

• Take part in code reviews to ensure compliance with development standards.

• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Product Owners, QA, Infrastructure, Database, and other technology teams.

• Support SIT, UAT, production deployments, and post-production validation.

• Participate in production support and incident resolution.

• Provide technical estimates and aid in project planning.

• Mentor junior developers and offer technical guidance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of software development experience.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Oracle/PLSQL and Oracle Forms.

• Strong background in SQL and Unix/Linux Shell scripting.

• Proficiency in Java.

• Experience in supporting and enhancing complex legacy applications.

• Experience collaborating with cross-functional technical and business teams.

• Proven experience in production support and troubleshooting.

• Strong practical experience with Oracle Database.

• Advanced knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL.

• Experience in developing stored procedures, functions, packages, triggers, cursors, complex SQL queries, and data processing routines.

• Familiarity with SQL performance tuning and query optimization.

• Capability to troubleshoot database-related application issues.

• Experience in developing and supporting Oracle Forms applications.

• Experience in maintaining existing Oracle Forms applications and complex legacy code.

• Ability to analyze Forms triggers, procedures, libraries, modules, and database dependencies.

• Experience in troubleshooting production issues within Oracle Forms environments.

• Strong experience in Unix/Linux environments.

• Experience in developing and maintaining Shell scripts.

• Understanding of batch processing, file processing, scheduling, logging, and error handling.

• Experience in troubleshooting Unix-based application processes.

• Practical experience with Java development and maintenance.

• Ability to comprehend and modify existing Java applications/components.

• Understanding of Java-based enterprise application environments.
