This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the technical architecture for the semantic and metrics layer.
• Implement infrastructure and design APIs.
• Establish pre-aggregation strategies.
• Implement authentication and row-level security measures.
• Manage Atlan, including schedule crawls and AI-driven enrichment.
• Maintain the policy center regarding data access, PII classification, and compliance.
• Operate the self-service analytics platform, covering licensing, connection management, and version upgrades.
• Enhance Amazon Redshift performance and optimize queries for semantic-layer pre-aggregation and business intelligence patterns.
• Monitor platform uptime and observability alerts.
• Track compute and licensing costs across the data stack.
• Provide technical guidance during tool migrations.
• Contribute infrastructure and operational expertise to assessments and RFP processes for new semantic and BI technologies.
• Collaborate with BI, Data Warehouse, Data Science, and ML Engineering teams.
• Take ownership of infrastructure, deployment, performance, and operations across the semantic layer, data catalog, and self-service analytics platforms.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Over five years of experience in data engineering or platform engineering.
• Significant ownership of production data infrastructure.
• Extensive hands-on experience optimizing Amazon Redshift performance, including distribution/sort key design, compression encoding, WLM or concurrency-scaling/Serverless configuration, materialized views, result caching, and execution-plan optimization.
• Experience managing a data catalog or governance platform such as Atlan, Collibra, Alation, or DataHub.
• Experience operating an enterprise BI or self-service analytics platform such as Tableau Server/Cloud, Looker, Sigma, Omni, or Power BI.
• Familiarity with a semantic layer, metrics layer, or query acceleration tool such as Cube, Omni, dbt Semantic Layer, AtScale, or LookML, or the ability to quickly learn a new one.
• Knowledge of API layer design, authentication/authorization patterns, and implementation of row-level security.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog, Metaplane, or CloudWatch, including alerting and uptime accountability.
• Proficiency in SQL or similar query languages for complex data manipulation.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Scala, or Java.
• Experience managing source code via GitHub and designing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or CircleCI.
