Senior Analytics Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the architecture and governance of Thistle’s comprehensive data infrastructure, ensuring it is scalable, reliable, and aligns with industry best practices.

• Lead the design and execution of our primary data models and pipelines (ETL/ELT), facilitating advanced analytics, reporting, and experimentation.

• Foster cross-functional alignment on data definitions, metrics, and source-of-truth models to maintain consistency and clarity across all teams.

• Develop and mentor analytics engineers and analysts, raising technical standards and promoting a data-driven culture throughout the organization.

• Act as a strategic partner to senior leadership by identifying data-driven opportunities that unlock business value and advising on high-impact initiatives.

• Continuously enhance the performance of our data warehouse (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift), workflows, and query efficiency.

• Advocate for best-in-class tools and practices, including dbt, Airflow, version control, testing frameworks, and documentation standards.

• Facilitate self-service analytics by creating scalable, user-friendly data products, dashboards, and exploration tools designed for business stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–8+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data architecture, or data engineering.

• Demonstrated experience in building and scaling cloud-based data ecosystems utilizing modern tools such as dbt, Airflow, and a cloud data warehouse (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).

• Advanced expertise in SQL and Python, with robust data modeling and transformation capabilities.

• Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders across various levels and functions.

• Experience in defining and operationalizing data governance, quality frameworks, and performance tuning practices.

• Exceptional communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex data challenges into clear business insights and recommendations.
