• Act as the principal system owner for Workday.
• Set up and oversee business processes, eligibility criteria, condition logic, notifications, as well as earnings and deduction configurations, along with associated workflows.
• Convert intricate business needs from People, Payroll, Benefits, and Finance teams into scalable and secure Workday solutions.
• Verify that system configurations comply with regulatory requirements, audit standards, and internal controls.
• Lead testing phases for compensation events, modifications to benefit plans, updates to payroll configurations, and regulatory changes.
• Provide escalation support for complex system challenges within designated areas.
• Manage governance, monitoring, and optimization of all Workday integrations, including payroll vendors, benefits carriers, compensation tools, finance systems, and other personnel platforms.
• Collaborate with vendors and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure dependable data flow, proactive problem identification, and prompt resolution of integration failures.
• Oversee testing and validation of integration modifications during Workday releases and vendor updates.
• Discover opportunities to streamline workflows, decrease manual reconciliations, and enhance system interoperability.
• Create sophisticated custom reports, calculated fields, and dashboards that aid in compensation planning, benefits administration, payroll validation, and compliance requirements.
• Perform regular audits to guarantee data accuracy, configuration consistency, and compliance with privacy and security standards.
• Execute bulk data updates and integrations using EIBs and various Workday tools.
• Assist in security configuration and role-based access governance in financially sensitive domains.
• Enhance internal controls by documenting configuration decisions and keeping audit-ready records.
• Serve as a key contributor during biannual Workday release cycles: assess feature impacts, suggest adoption strategies, and lead testing efforts within designated modules.
• Actively pinpoint automation opportunities, configuration improvements, and process enhancements that boost efficiency and lower operational risk.
• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to evaluate system implications of policy, regulatory, or structural modifications.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for system configurations, integrations, and business processes.
• Formulate clear implementation plans and stakeholder communications for significant system changes.
• Facilitate the enablement of People, Payroll, and Finance partners to ensure confident and effective system use.
• Function as a trusted advisor and escalation point for complex People Systems initiatives.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of relevant experience.
• 5+ years of practical experience configuring Workday HCM, with a strong focus on Compensation, Benefits, and/or Payroll modules.
• Proven experience managing and supporting Workday integrations across various vendors and platforms.
• Advanced understanding of Workday's business process framework, calculated fields, reporting, EIBs, and security configuration.
• Experience in supporting compensation cycles, updates to benefits plans, governance of payroll configurations, and compliance-driven system changes.
• Strong grasp of system controls, data governance, and audit readiness in HRIS environments.
• Capability to juggle multiple high-impact priorities in a dynamic, remote-first environment.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to translate technical concepts into understandable business language.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with People, Payroll, Finance, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• High degree of discretion and comfort handling confidential and financially sensitive information.
• Proficient in Google Workspace, project management tools, and contemporary collaboration platforms.
• Previous experience in a healthcare, startup, or high-growth environment is advantageous.
• Workday certifications in Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, or Integrations are highly preferred.
