This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Create and write Airworthiness certification and conformance plans for both developmental and production aircraft.
• Assist with Flight Releases, Type Certification, customized airworthiness, and FAA integration into general use airspace for all services.
• Conduct technical airworthiness planning, monitoring, and validation within a digital framework.
• Formulate and negotiate airworthiness certification bases, means of compliance, and various certification activities.
• Build comprehensive airworthiness relationships with engineers, technical authorities, and customer stakeholders.
• Lead technical reviews throughout the complete design, development, and testing processes.
• Carry out functional and process analyses, requirements allocation, and definition studies in collaboration with program engineers and customer representatives.
• Convert customer needs into criteria and derived requirements.
• Ensure the achievement of customer airworthiness certification goals and customize airworthiness processes throughout the product lifecycle.
• Facilitate design development to achieve airworthiness compliance and processes leading to Military Flight Release or other specific customer approvals.
• Assist Airworthiness Boards, technical interchange meetings, and risk assessments by gathering engineering and systems data.
• Develop, author, and manage airworthiness activities digitally alongside system requirements, schedules, flight test matrices, and risk assessments.
• Conduct statistical analyses of program performance and provide input to flight test program execution timelines.
• Generate innovative solutions to technical and execution challenges.
• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related aviation engineering discipline.
• Over 8 years of experience in airworthiness engineering.
• Proven experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with Department of War and FAA airworthiness authorities.
• Familiarity with Department of War Airworthiness Policy Directives, Instructions, and Airworthiness Bulletins.
• Demonstrated experience with Department of War and FAA airworthiness processes, including MIL-HDBK-516 series documents, throughout the lifecycle of developmental aircraft.
• Experience in developing and managing airworthiness plans and monitoring airworthiness criteria.
• Background in manned or UAS developmental military aircraft.
• Capability to develop and implement airworthiness certification process improvement initiatives.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills, particularly regarding technical topics.
• Proficient in computer and technical software, including MATLAB, JIRA, DOORS, MS Office, CATIA, and 3DX.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
