Senior AI Software Engineer – Automation & AI, Laravel/PHP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Leverage Claude Code, Codex, and other contemporary AI-coding tools to create AI-assisted applications, backend components, and automations using Laravel and PHP.

• From concept to deployment, you will design and coordinate AI agents and workflows aimed at automating genuine business processes.

• You will develop production-grade AI functionalities, which include integrating LLM APIs, utilizing embeddings and vector databases, and implementing RAG services along with tool-calling pipelines.

• Your responsibilities will encompass scalable API flows, background jobs, cron jobs, and microservices, ensuring their reliable and secure operation.

• As a technical leader, you will take ownership of architectural decisions, code quality, and standards, while supporting the team in the proficient use of AI-coding tools.

• You will continuously assess new models, technologies, and tools for their potential benefits, integrating appropriate methods into our systems and processes.

• In collaboration with business units, you will pinpoint automation and AI opportunities, actively contributing to the development of our technical AI roadmap.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline.

• A minimum of five years of experience in developing web applications and backends, with substantial hands-on experience in Laravel and PHP.

• Practical, production-level experience with AI-coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar applications.

• Proven track record of deploying AI solutions in a production environment, particularly with LLMs, embeddings, RAG, and ideally agentic systems.

• Strong understanding of process automation and the development of API flows, background jobs, and microservices.

• Proficient in working with relational databases such as MariaDB, MySQL, or DuckDB, along with Eloquent ORM, Docker, and GitLab CI/CD.

• Experience with automated testing tools, such as PHPUnit or Pest.

• Ideally, experience in technical leadership, architectural design, or mentoring roles.

• A passion for emerging AI technologies and an independent, solution-focused work approach.

• Conversational proficiency in German.
