Senior AI Developer – Technical Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete planning, architecture, development, testing, deployment, and delivery of intricate AI, machine learning, generative AI, and public health analytics solutions.

• Convert client, user, and program goals into technical requirements, AI solution architectures, product roadmaps, work plans, milestones, and deliverables.

• Offer hands-on technical guidance to cross-functional teams in AI, machine learning, data engineering, data science, biostatistics, and epidemiology.

• Act as the main technical liaison for clients and stakeholders.

• Articulate AI capabilities, limitations, trade-offs, delivery status, and associated risks.

• Design and create production-ready machine learning models, generative AI applications, retrieval-augmented generation workflows, intelligent agents, APIs, and reusable software components.

• Establish and manage software engineering and MLOps practices, including version control, peer review, automated testing, CI/CD, model evaluation, monitoring, performance optimization, documentation, and secure deployment.

• Assess emerging AI technologies and select appropriate models, frameworks, platforms, and integration patterns.

• Implement responsible AI, privacy, security, and data governance measures.

• Identify technical risks and dependencies.

• Guide developers through architecture reviews, coding standards, troubleshooting, and knowledge sharing.

• Foster innovation, reproducibility, maintainability, and continuous enhancement across AI and analytics workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship OR Green Card is a contractual necessity.

• Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DHS "PUBLIC TRUST".

• A Bachelor's degree is required.

• At least FIVE (5) years of professional experience is essential.

• Experience in data engineering, software development, or similar roles is required.

• Demonstrated capability to lead multidisciplinary technical teams and effectively communicate complex AI concepts, architectural decisions, risks, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in public health, healthcare, government, or other regulated sectors.

• Proven senior-level experience in designing and developing AI or machine learning solutions utilizing Python and contemporary AI/ML frameworks.

• A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in architecting and deploying AI applications in cloud environments, integrating models with enterprise data sources and APIs, and applying software engineering, DevSecOps, MLOps, testing, monitoring, and documentation practices.

• At least 5+ years' experience leading technical development teams.

• Ability to function in a matrixed environment.

• Experience in delivering generative AI solutions utilizing LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering, vector databases, semantic search, AI agents, and model evaluation techniques.

• Familiarity with Azure AI services or similar cloud AI platforms, containerization and orchestration, infrastructure automation, data pipelines, and federal security and compliance frameworks.

• A strong preference for familiarity with responsible AI, explainability, bias assessment, human-in-the-loop review, and model risk management.

• Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, and other data processing or analytic technologies.
