Senior AI Data & Analytics Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Collaborate on establishing the strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for MDA’s data and AI foundation.

• Design and manage the marketing data infrastructure, which includes ETL/ELT pipelines, Databricks Gold Layer tables, and essential data models.

• Create semantic layers, data dictionaries, and organized documentation for self-service BI and conversational analytics.

• Work alongside BI teams to ensure that sales and marketing KPIs are based on reliable, well-structured data.

• Convert vague business inquiries from Marketing, Sales, and R&D into clear requirements and scalable solutions.

• Lead intricate, cross-team projects from inception to completion, which encompass new pipelines and integrations.

• Oversee risks across interconnected teams and take responsibility for the reliability and quality of delivered data.

• Act as the senior technical authority for complex issues, enhance engineering and code-review standards, eliminate bottlenecks, and mentor engineers and analysts.

• Develop AI-enabled data products and agents incorporating integrations, retrieval pipelines, and evaluation methodologies.

• Streamline manual Marketing and GTM workflows utilizing AI from concept to production.

• Produce and assess high-quality Python and SQL, including AI-generated code.

• Advocate for Samsara’s cultural values as the organization expands globally and opens new offices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or AI engineering, with substantial hands-on experience in data engineering.

• Proficient in Python and SQL at an expert level.

• Strong practical experience in data modeling and DBT.

• Extensive knowledge of data warehouse and lakehouse architectures, ETL/ELT processes, and the modern data stack.

• Hands-on experience with Databricks or similar platforms like Snowflake or BigQuery.

• Experience in creating semantic layers and structured documentation tailored for AI ingestion and agentic workflows.

• Regularly utilize agentic coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor, ensuring ownership and verification of AI-generated outcomes.

• Proficient in building, deploying, evaluating, and monitoring LLM or agent systems in a production environment.

• Proven history of leading complex, cross-team data initiatives.

• Experience in independently gathering requirements from both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Background in supporting Marketing, Sales, or Product teams.

• Eligibility to work legally at Samsara and in the designated work location.

• Preferred qualifications include experience with Databricks AI Agents, software engineering beyond data or AI fields, data visualization and sales/marketing KPI dashboards, CRM systems like Salesforce, marketing automation, web analytics, MarTech tools, Streamlit, Claude workflows or web frameworks, data science, machine learning, predictive analytics, and exploratory testing of data sources and methodologies.
