This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Designing and evaluating data extraction and integration software for structured EHR content (XML, FHIR) as well as unstructured text content (attached documents)
• Strategizing, articulating, and executing projects to curate data sets utilized in model training
• Keeping abreast of current and emerging generative AI and transformer technologies
• Fine-tuning and training large language models (LLMs)
• Possessing a solid understanding of PHI/PII and de-identification policies and strategies at xCures, and implementing software solutions that adhere to these regulations
• Creating and executing tests for data extraction and aggregation performance to enhance efficiency, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness
• Adapting to take on technical leadership or collaborative roles as needed throughout projects
• Establishing and maintaining code repositories
• Collaborating closely with management to explore methodologies, test hypotheses, and collectively develop innovative solutions for data science
• Coordinating as necessary in a fully remote work environment
• Partnering with Engineering and other departments to enhance overall company efficiency and effectiveness
• Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Statistics, Biology, or a related discipline
• At least 10 years of practical experience in data science, machine learning, AI, data analysis, software development, and/or predictive analytics
• Proficiency in generative AI and transformer models, particularly in LLM training
• Extensive prior experience in curating data sets for LLM training
• Significant hands-on coding expertise with LLMs, embedding models, sentence transformers, and authoring Python code for data extraction and/or classification tools
• Considerable previous work with parsing XML, JSON, and/or other intricate data formats, ideally C-CDA health data
• Familiarity with TensorFlow, PyTorch, and/or scikit-learn
• Software development proficiency, including experience with Git
• Demonstrated efficiency and a cautious approach to utilizing LLM-assisted coding
• Background in writing unit and integration tests for scientific/clinical data software, along with developing scientifically driven data quality assessments
• Experience as a senior technology development leader, contributing while overseeing colleagues’ work
• A flexible, innovative, and proactive approach to delivering software and data products, balanced with team collaboration
