Senior AI Agent Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Develop the backend for the AI agent utilizing Python and FastAPI.

• Collaborate with LLMs, focusing on prompts, tool/function calls, and structured outputs.

• Design and manage PostgreSQL databases, including queries, indexes, and migrations.

• Create user interfaces with React and TypeScript.

• Integrate the AI agent with internal APIs and external services.

• Utilize AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot to enhance development efficiency and productivity.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to 1–3 developers through code reviews, planning sessions, and technical support.

• Make informed technical and architectural decisions and communicate them effectively to product and leadership teams.

• Establish and oversee testing, CI/CD, logging, and monitoring processes.

• Supervise the production environment and resolve technical issues and incidents.

• Monitor AI performance, response quality, speed, and associated costs.

• Enhance prompts and AI logic in response to changing models and requirements.

• Adhere to secure coding practices to safeguard customer and personal data.

• Continue to develop new features and enhancements post-launch of the product.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional experience in software development.

• 1–2+ years of experience in building and supporting AI/LLM features in a production environment.

• Extensive experience with Python and backend API development.

• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL, including database design, SQL, indexing, and performance optimization.

• Solid experience with React and TypeScript.

• In-depth knowledge of LLMs, prompt design, tool/function calling, retries, rate limits, and managing erroneous AI responses.

• Familiarity with AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.

• Experience in leading or mentoring developers while remaining actively involved in coding.

• Background in supporting production applications, including monitoring, incident management, and root-cause analysis.

• Proficient in written and spoken English.

• Preferred: experience with RAG, embeddings, and pgvector.

• Preferred: familiarity with LangGraph, Claude Agent SDK, or MCP.

• Preferred: experience in LLM testing, monitoring, and cost management.

• Preferred: knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Docker, and CI/CD practices.

• Preferred: experience working with multi-tenant SaaS applications.

• Preferred: experience in staffing, HR tech, payroll, or workforce management.

• Preferred: understanding of SOC 2 or similar security and compliance standards.
