This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Utilize actuarial principles to evaluate healthcare claims data and pinpoint significant cost and utilization trends.
• Create, sustain, and improve actuarial projection models to facilitate financial forecasting.
• Assess and reconcile actuarial inputs and outputs to guarantee accuracy and consistency.
• Manage IBNR and additional forecasting models to aid in performance monitoring.
• Collaborate with both internal and external actuaries, including providing support for quarterly revenue reconciliation.
• Operate within Databricks and SQL environments to extract, prepare, and organize data for actuarial analysis.
• Recognize significant trend drivers and link findings to financial results.
• Share models, analyses, and insights during both internal and client-facing meetings.
• Assist in opportunity analyses for potential clients and growth prospects within current accounts.
• Work collaboratively across functions to support contract performance and compliance requirements.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
• Successful completion of a minimum of four (4) actuarial exams.
• At least three (3) years of actuarial experience in the healthcare or managed care sector.
• Familiarity with healthcare claims, utilization trends, and/or managed care environments.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for modeling and data analysis purposes.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience handling large enterprise data warehouses.
• Background in building, modifying, and optimizing data tables and datasets.
• Intermediate to advanced skills in Power BI.
• Strong analytical thinking with the capacity to convert data into clear, actionable insights.
• Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Exhibits an entrepreneurial mindset, able to take initiative, work independently, and effectively prioritize in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
• Experience with Python or R is preferred.
• Background in Commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare analysis is preferred.
• Experience with CMS shared savings programs is preferred.
