This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take full responsibility for ensuring billing accuracy and revenue recognition for all parcel and freight transactions.
• Oversee the monthly and quarterly revenue accrual procedures, guaranteeing both completeness and accuracy in accordance with GAAP.
• Collaborate with operations and commercial teams to address billing disputes, identify deficiencies, and enhance controls.
• Direct the review of expenses and accrual processes for carrier costs and freight payables.
• Examine transportation cost trends, highlight variances to leadership, and provide clear explanations along with suggested actions.
• Act as the finance and accounting authority for Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and internally developed subsystems.
• Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to ensure that accounting requirements are integrated into system designs and that output data aligns with financial reporting standards.
• Create and sustain management reporting and analytics to provide visibility into parcel and freight P&L.
• Manage and mentor direct reports.
• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
• Background in the transportation or logistics industry — familiarity with parcel and freight billing, carrier contracts, accessorial charges, fuel surcharges, and the flow of cost data through operations.
• Proficiency in ERP systems — hands-on experience with NetSuite or a similar enterprise system; comfortable in building and maintaining account structures, workflows, and reconciliation processes.
• Data fluency — capable of writing SQL, navigating Tableau, Looker, or similar BI tools, and independent in conducting your own analysis.
• Experience partnering with TMS and systems — collaborated with Product or Engineering teams to define accounting requirements, validate data pipelines, or act as a business owner for a TMS or internal finance system development.
• Strong understanding of GAAP revenue recognition and accrual accounting.
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills — able to translate between accountants, operators, and engineers without losing precision on either side.
