This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Assist with the preparation and review of corporate tax returns, which include direct, indirect, VAT, and international filings.
• Aid in the preparation of quarterly and annual GAAP tax provisions.
• Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for tax provisions in partnership with the Accounting team.
• Record journal entries related to tax on a quarterly and annual basis.
• Process tax payments and ensure accurate recording of associated entries.
• Coordinate the gathering and validation of financial data necessary for tax reporting and filings.
• Monitor, manage, and respond promptly to tax notices and correspondence.
• Work collaboratively with external tax advisors and consultants to fulfill compliance and reporting obligations.
• Ensure that tax and accounting processes comply with internal controls, policies, and procedures, including SOX 404 requirements.
• Partner with both internal and external auditors to assist with audits and address inquiries.
• Identify and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities.
• Build and sustain strong working relationships across the Accounting function.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• CPA certification is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or corporate tax is essential.
• Experience in the financial services sector is preferred.
• Familiarity with tax returns and/or tax provisions is beneficial but not mandatory; training will be provided.
• Strong grasp of accounting principles, including U.S. GAAP.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the capacity to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and establish strong working relationships.
• Familiarity with tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, or other data/automation tools is advantageous.
