This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Facilitate and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures pertaining to inventory accounts.
• Prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, conduct variance analyses, and create supporting schedules.
• Examine inventory-related transactions to discern trends, discrepancies, reconciling items, and potential process challenges.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies among operational records, subledger activities, and general ledger balances.
• Ensure complete, accurate, and audit-ready documentation that supports accounting conclusions, reconciliations, journal entries, and closing deliverables.
• Develop and maintain intricate reconciliations for inventory and associated balance sheet accounts.
• Analyze reconciling items and exceptions, conduct root-cause analysis, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolutions.
• Implement assigned SOX controls and maintain evidence that demonstrates effective control performance and readiness for review.
• Contribute to the enhancement of reconciliation quality, documentation standards, control evidence, and consistency during the closing process.
• Assist with requests from internal and external auditors by preparing schedules, providing support, explanations, and follow-up responses.
• Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, IT, FP&A, Internal Audit, SOX, and other accounting teams.
• Recognize opportunities to refine manual workflows, bolster documentation, elevate reconciliation quality, and enhance consistency.
• Relay questions, risks, unresolved items, and proposed solutions to management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in accounting, encompassing month-end closures, journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analyses, and audit support.
• Comprehensive understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and accounting documentation standards.
• Experience with operational or financial data and reconciling activities across various systems or data sources.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management capabilities.
• Ability to meet deadlines and follow up on outstanding items.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, conditional logic, data validation, and analyzing extensive data sets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy, completeness, documentation discipline, and timely escalation of issues.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• Experience in a public company, public accounting, multi-location, high-volume transaction processing, or other complex operating environments is preferred.
• Background in inventory accounting, cost accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, controls, or related operational accounting activities is preferred.
• Experience in a control-focused, remediation, transformation, or rapidly changing environment is preferred.
