Senior Accountant – HGB Financial Statements, Controlling

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Independently prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with HGB.

• Oversee ongoing financial accounting, including account reconciliations and closing entries.

• Prepare VAT returns and various tax documents.

• Generate accurate financial data for reporting, forecasting, and management analysis.

• Assist with accounting, finance, and controlling-related inquiries.

• Engage in budgeting, liquidity planning, actual-versus-plan comparisons, and variance analyses.

• Aid in accounts receivable, project billing, payments, and receivables management.

• Collaborate with tax advisors, auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities.

• Innovate and automate accounting, reporting, and controlling processes.

• Operate within bookkeeping and the ERP system.

• Comprehend systems, data flows, and interfaces to identify improvement opportunities and articulate business requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Completed commercial training, complemented by further qualifications as a Bilanzbuchhalter (certified balance sheet accountant) or an equivalent professional credential.

• Several years of hands-on experience in finance and accounting.

• Excellent knowledge of accounting practices under HGB and experience in the largely independent preparation of financial statements.

• Strong grasp of controlling, reporting, forecasting, and key financial metrics.

• Willingness to assume professional responsibilities while actively participating in operational accounting tasks.

• Proficient user of ERP and accounting systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

• Advanced skills in Excel.

• Solid understanding of data, systems, interfaces, and digital finance processes.

• Structured, meticulous, and self-reliant working style with a high level of reliability.

• Analytical mindset with the ability to present complex issues clearly.

• Enthusiastic about questioning, enhancing, and sensibly automating existing processes.

• Interest in contemporary digital tools and the integration of AI in everyday financial tasks.

• Excellent communication skills and dependable collaboration in a fully remote team.

• Proficient in German and good command of English for an international setting.
