Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +6 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of daily reconciliations between loan origination activities and warehouse bank funding, ensuring cash and loan balances consistently align by investigating and resolving discrepancies.

• Act as the accounting liaison for ZHL's warehouse bank partners—monitoring daily funding and paydown reports, validating newly formatted bank files, and facilitating user-acceptance testing when banking systems or reports undergo changes.

• Contribute to the month-end close process by completing tasks and sign-offs in FloQast, adhering to deadlines with well-organized and substantiated workpapers.

• Calculate and verify monthly compliance with warehouse-line financial covenants across our banking partners.

• Develop and sustain reconciliations and reports that summarize the daily flow of funds by bank.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally encompassing monthly close processes, reconciliations, and the preparation of journal entries.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (CPA or CPA candidate is an advantage).

• Strong comprehension of US GAAP and general ledger accounting principles.

• Proficient Excel skills and a comfort level working with large datasets.

• Highly organized and deadline-oriented, demonstrating strong attention to detail and the capability to manage recurring close cycles independently.

• Effective communicator able to research issues, clarify variances, and collaborate with finance, banking partners, and technical teams.

• Nice to have: Experience in mortgage, banking, or financial services accounting, particularly in warehouse lending or loan servicing; Familiarity with ERP and reporting tools such as Workday, Databricks, or FloQast; Experience aiding in accounting automation or process improvement initiatives; Exposure to SOX controls and audit support.
