This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Actively engaged in all facets of accounting, overseeing payroll, accounts payable, and month-end closing entries and reconciliations.
• Manage the General Ledger and prepare/post journal entries, ensuring that all business transactions comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Execute all month-end closing activities, including reconciliations for accruals, prepaids, reserves, fixed assets, leases, depreciation/amortization, and debt.
• Contribute to the preparation of schedules and supporting documents during various audits and examinations (financial statements, 401k, insurance, tax, and other related compliance).
• Process bi-weekly payroll for the organization.
• Identify and prioritize opportunities to automate and enhance business processes, analyses, and reporting.
• Document and oversee internal controls, while assisting with periodic internal audit procedures.
• Evaluate key business process designs to boost expediency, efficiency, and quality, ensuring adherence to regulations and industry best practices.
• Engage in the development and thorough review of annual operating budgets and financial performance forecasts.
• Support financial analysis and variance analysis of monthly financial outcomes.
• Foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, feedback, and excellence, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is mandatory.
• Active CPA designation is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience is required, with significant expertise in general ledger and month-end close processes.
• At least 2 years of experience in public accounting is desired.
• Proficient in working within an accounting software environment; familiarity with Sage Intacct is preferred.
• Knowledge in reviewing lease agreements and understanding the accounting for lease transactions (ASC 842).
• Advanced proficiency in Excel is essential, including skills in data cleaning, aggregation, and analysis tools such as VLOOKUPS, Pivot Tables, and commonly used financial formulas.
• Proven experience in building financial models, automating reports, and aggregating, cleaning, and analyzing large and complex financial and operational data sets is required.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power Query and Power Pivot is preferred.
• Experience using PowerPoint or other presentation tools to create management and Board presentations.
• Previous exposure at the C-Level and experience in a high-growth environment is preferred.
• A self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and achieve results in a fast-paced setting.
• Experience in learning new systems and tools, with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for operational efficiency within existing processes.
• Background in multi-facility healthcare or other multi-business unit reporting environments is preferred.
• Familiarity with ABA and Autism services is advantageous, though not essential.
• Data-driven decision maker, making recommendations through systematic analysis rather than intuition.
• Demonstrated sound judgment and comfort in leading strategic decision-making, project prioritization, and financial and human capital allocation for privately backed organizations.
