
Senior Account Director, Business Development β Medical Communications

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.
β’ Secures and maintains business for PPD by engaging in professional, consultative, and proactive sales activities targeted at decision-makers and influencers within both existing and prospective clinical sponsors.
β’ Positions PPD as a primary or preferred provider for outsourced Medical Communications work.
β’ Qualifies opportunities and formulates proposals, which include defining solutions and suggesting pricing structures to align with strategic company objectives.
β’ Acts as the main point of contact until the work is sold, subsequently coordinating with the relevant medical communications teams to ensure successful execution.
β’ Serves as a bridge between the sponsor and the company regarding all business development activities and requirements.
β’ Collects data on market trends, as well as competitive products/services and their pricing.
β’ Facilitates RFP strategy calls, crafts client proposals, prepares client presentations, and negotiates and finalizes contracts.
β’ Signs new business authorizations that meet or exceed the assigned authorization target.
β’ Conducts cold calls and client visits; maintains the sales database; tracks cold call and client visit activity reports.
β’ Ensures client satisfaction through regular contact; reports and formulates recommendations to address any client dissatisfaction; responds to all client inquiries promptly.
β’ Mentors and trains junior staff members.
β’ Bachelor's degree or an equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification.
β’ Prior experience that equips the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for the role (comparable to 5+ years) or a suitable combination of education, training, and experience.
β’ A scientific, sales, and/or marketing background focused on the pharmaceutical/biotech sector.
β’ Direct sales experience within the CRO industry is essential.
β’ Experience in selling Medical Communications services is highly advantageous.
β’ Proven success in developing mid- and high-level business relationships.
β’ Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively manage and integrate with Operations, Finance, Bids & Contracts, and Marketing, as well as follow up to enhance relationships and business opportunities.
β’ Demonstrated ability to identify and cultivate sales leads, deliver professional presentations, manage the sales process to closure, and navigate all aspects of contract negotiations.
β’ Familiarity with sales automation systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
