This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the development, coordination, and upkeep of intricate 3D models, layouts, and renderings for utility-scale PV and BESS projects utilizing Autodesk Inventor.

• Create production-ready 3D representations for battery energy storage systems, inverters, transformers, switchgear, cable management systems, equipment pads, racking, structural supports, and balance-of-system components.

• Provide guidance to project teams on electrical layout considerations, including cable routing, conduit and trench coordination, equipment clearances, grounding, and equipment interconnections.

• Manage project models, ensuring proper organization, revision control, file management, and documentation integrity.

• Address spatial conflicts, constructability challenges, and multidisciplinary interface conditions.

• Generate and approve sheet sets, technical drawings, details, and renderings based on 3D models.

• Establish modeling techniques, automation strategies, standards, templates, and libraries.

• Spearhead 3D design coordination across multiple simultaneous PV and BESS projects.

• Validate scopes, estimates, schedules, resource plans, and technical assumptions for 3D design tasks.

• Identify technical risks, coordination issues, and schedule impacts while recommending solutions.

• Assist with fabrication, procurement, and installation planning using coordinated models.

• Review and approve models, drawings, and deliverables through QA/QC processes.

• Examine vendor- and client-supplied models and document any discrepancies.

• Offer technical direction and mentorship to 3D designers.

• Manage designer workloads in accordance with project timelines.

• Create training materials, technical documentation, and lessons learned reports.

• Collaborate with civil, structural, and electrical engineers, procurement teams, construction stakeholders, project managers, clients, and discipline leads.

• Showcase models and visualizations during client design reviews and address constructability inquiries.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or associate's degree in engineering, engineering technology, design, drafting/CADD, or a related technical field, or comparable relevant work experience.

• A minimum of 8 years in engineering design, technical design, or drafting.

• At least 3 years of experience using Autodesk Inventor or equivalent software for developing 3D infrastructure designs in a professional setting.

• Background in electrical design, encompassing cable routing, cable management, and equipment layout for large-scale power generation or similar industrial projects.

• Proven experience in coordinating design efforts across civil, electrical, and structural disciplines.

• Experience in producing sheet sets and design documentation from 3D models, including a formal quality review process.

• Ability to independently manage multiple concurrent assignments.

• Experience in providing technical guidance and constructive feedback to fellow designers.

• Previous involvement in utility-scale battery energy storage and PV projects is preferred.

• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD or other related Autodesk design tools is preferred.

• Familiarity with DC/AC systems, cable schedules, conduit and trenching, cable tray, grounding, and equipment interconnection is preferred.

• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, or related electrical and safety standards is preferred.

• Prior experience in developing 3D design standards, templates, workflows, or quality control procedures is preferred.

• Experience in supporting client-facing design reviews or technical coordination meetings is preferred.
