This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Perform forensic assessments on commercial vehicles, including semi-trucks, tractor-trailers, braking systems, steering components, suspension systems, tires, and coupling devices.
β’ Investigate mechanical failures and identify root causes linked to equipment malfunctions, inadequate maintenance, or design and manufacturing flaws.
β’ Examine maintenance logs, inspection documents, and repair histories to evaluate vehicle status and compliance.
β’ Assess compliance with FMCSA regulations, DOT inspection criteria, and industry best practices regarding commercial vehicle maintenance and safety.
β’ Create comprehensive expert reports and opinions based on engineering principles, forensic analysis, and established methodologies.
β’ Provide expert testimony during depositions and trials, effectively communicating intricate mechanical findings in a clear and accessible manner.
β’ Keep abreast of advancements in commercial vehicle technology, safety systems (e.g., ABS, ACC, ADAS), and regulatory requirements.
β’ Minimum of 15 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, Truck Mechanics and Maintenance, Commercial Vehicle Systems, or related areas.
β’ Professional Engineer License (PE), along with a Master's or Bachelorβs degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
β’ In-depth knowledge of truck systems, including braking, drivetrain, suspension, steering, and load securement mechanisms.
β’ Extensive familiarity with FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, and standards and practices for vehicle repair, inspection, and maintenance.
β’ Experience in conducting failure analysis, root cause assessments, and mechanical evaluations.
β’ Proven ability to analyze complex mechanical problems and present findings in investigative or legal contexts.
β’ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to clarify technical concepts for attorneys, juries, and non-technical audiences.
β’ Previous experience as an expert witness or in litigation consulting is preferred, though not mandatory.
β’ Dedicated case management and administrative support from the initial client intake through billing and collections, enabling you to concentrate on delivering expert insights.
