This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Identify, investigate, and escalate security alerts and events in a 24/7/365 environment.
• Manage and configure security monitoring tools effectively.
• Evaluate security systems and protocols for vulnerabilities and enhancements.
• Develop security process roadmaps and knowledge documentation.
• Validate change management processes and oversee user/system-impacting security incidents and their resolutions.
• Administer SOC/NOC-owned tools, including scripting, customizations, report generation, alert modifications, automation, and maintenance.
• Reduce risk and exposure concerning system security and business interruptions.
• Monitor security tools and systems by analyzing logs, alerts, and data for any suspicious activities.
• Investigate potential threats, validate alerts, and identify vulnerabilities.
• Oversee incident/security matters, including initial triage, troubleshooting, and remediation efforts.
• Collect and analyze evidence to assess the scope and impact of incidents.
• Contain threats and remediate vulnerabilities through patching, configuration adjustments, or other strategies.
• Assist in the recovery of affected systems and data while communicating incident status to management.
• Document findings for future reference and continuous improvement.
• Actively engage in disaster recovery and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) events.
• Keep current with developments in the IT security industry and newly updated security solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• 2-4 years of experience in Security Operations in a 24/7/365 environment and related technologies.
• Experience in Enterprise Security Operations support.
• Proficiency in creating enterprise security documentation.
• Understanding of IT infrastructure and networking, including operating systems, network protocols, and fundamental infrastructure components.
• Familiarity with common security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and SIEM tools.
• Ability to write basic scripts for task automation and report generation.
• Knowledge of established incident response protocols, including containment, eradication, and recovery.
• Proficient in security tools and software utilized by security organizations.
• Experience with ExtraHop, Qradar, Splunk, and/or other security-related tools for visibility, monitoring, detection, alerting, response, and investigation.
• Excellent communication skills, able to convey information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences, including public speaking, critical business writing, process documentation, and knowledge base article creation.
• Capability to analyze complex security data, pinpoint root causes, and devise effective solutions.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to make swift and informed decisions during critical security incidents.
• Preferred: GIAC Security Essentials Certification; GIAC Security Leadership Certification; ISACA Certified Information Security Manager; Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer: Security; (ISC)2 SCCP; (ISC)2 CISSP; (ISC)2 ISSAP; CCSK4; ServiceNow; SIEM Solutions; TrustWave; Email Protection Solutions; Endpoint Detection & Response Solutions; Microsoft 365 Security Suite; Incident Management Communication tools; CV/CIRT Government notification process; Load balancers & Web Application Firewall Solutions; Firewall/router/networking equipment; Web Content Filtering (WSS); Secure Web Gateway Solutions; ITIL Foundations certifications (V3 or V4).
