Security & IT Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee Google Workspace administration, device management, and the lifecycle of SaaS access.

• Handle the onboarding and offboarding processes, along with conducting access reviews that meet audit standards.

• Perform checks for access reviews and device compliance.

• Streamline repetitive security and IT operations through automation.

• Address failing Vanta tests and automate the collection of evidence.

• Manage employee security and IT inquiries for one shift weekly with oversight from a mentor.

• Document runbooks and triage notes for engineers and AI agents.

• Utilize Claude Code and similar AI technologies to scale efforts and create automated production tasks.

• Take ownership of bounded projects from start to finish, deliver them, and present them to the engineering team.

• Collaborate directly with the Head of Security and the Security Engineer.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently a Junior or Senior at a US college or university, pursuing a degree in computer science or a related field.

• Proficiency in scripting with Python or a comparable language; experience in developing scripts that call APIs to execute tasks.

• Familiarity with SSO, MFA, directory groups, and principles of least privilege.

• Background in administering or securing a specific environment, such as Google Workspace, a home lab, campus help desk, CTF infrastructure, or part-time IT roles.

• Ability to produce clear security documentation; provide a lab writeup, README, blog post, or how-to guide.

• Availability for 20 hours per week during the academic year.

• At least 4 hours of overlap with US business hours on three or more days each week.

• Must be authorized to work in the US; this position does not qualify for visa sponsorship.

• Possess an AI-first mindset.

• Bonus points for CTF participation, bug bounty reports, GitHub projects, help desk or campus IT/MSP experience, or familiarity with SOC 2, HIPAA, or ISO 27001.
