Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Act as a technical expert for clients throughout the Heartland region, providing hands-on assistance, design advice, and security best practices in the area of network security.

• Partner with sales teams to define solutions, perform technical assessments, and present security architectures that align with the business goals of clients.

• Cultivate and sustain extensive knowledge of network security platforms, transforming technical capabilities into strategic business results for clients.

• Establish trusted advisor relationships with client stakeholders by showcasing empathy, active listening, and a sincere dedication to addressing their challenges.

• Create clear and concise documentation, including security evaluations, architectural suggestions, and implementation guides.

• Continuously enhance your understanding across related security domains, aiming to become a comprehensive security strategist.

• Adopt emerging technologies, including AI tools, to enhance efficiency, resolve issues, and achieve improved business outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Network Security Foundation – Practical experience with network security products and principles such as zero trust architecture, next-generation firewalls, application identification (AppID), micro-segmentation, and secure access.

• Firewall & Platform Proficiency – Demonstrated experience with firewall and network security platforms including Palo Alto Networks, Checkpoint, and/or Fortinet.

• Troubleshooting Ability – Knowledge of common troubleshooting methodologies for network security platforms, including firewalls, routing, NAT, and VPN.

• Operating System Knowledge – Proficient in client and server operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and Linux.

• Security Fundamentals – Basic understanding of general security concepts relevant to CISSP domains (certification is not required, but familiarity with the landscape is essential).

• Communication Skills – Capable of producing clear, concise reports and documentation regarding security incidents, system performance, and recommendations.

• Experience with related security solutions including CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Zscaler, Microsoft Defender suite, Carbon Black, Splunk, and/or Cisco security products.

• Experience in drafting security runbooks, policies, and best practice documentation.

• Exposure to pre-sales, client-facing consulting, or solution architecture (even informally).

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.

• Industry certifications (PCNSE, CCNP Security, CISSP, etc.) are advantageous but not mandatory.
