This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +17 more states.
• Prepare individual (1040) and business tax returns (1120, 1120-S, 1065), along with the associated schedules and financial statements across various states and industries.
• Organize, research, and synthesize complex financial information from client data.
• Communicate with clients to collect necessary information for compliance and filing purposes.
• Collaborate within a pod structure, reporting to the Senior Tax Specialist.
• Work closely with the pod’s Business Advisor to ensure the timely and accurate submission of returns.
• Conduct in-depth self-reviews of intricate federal, state, and local returns utilizing AI-assisted diagnostics.
• Reconcile returns with client source documents, financial statements, general ledgers, K-1s, and W-2s.
• Ensure that filings comply with current IRS regulations, state laws, and applicable international tax treaties.
• Prepare Book-to-Tax workpapers, notes, and relevant supporting documentation.
• Identify opportunities for tax savings, credits, and deductions.
• Active PTIN is required.
• Enrolled Agent license or CPA is strongly preferred.
• A minimum of 4–6 years of experience in preparing and reviewing individual and entity-level tax returns.
• Proficient in cloud-based tax software; Lacerte is preferred.
• Strong skills in Excel.
• Comfortable using Teams, Slack, and Zoom.
• Broad knowledge of industry-specific tax treatment.
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Access to reliable high-speed internet.
• Dedicated private home office space.
• Experience in coordinating services across multiple departments or specialties.
• Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
• Understanding of SaaS products, accounting, tax, payroll, or related services is a plus.
• Previous experience in fast-paced SMB environments is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Salesforce or equivalent CRM is preferred.
• Prior remote work experience is required.
• Must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States.
• Must live in one of the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Washington.
