SDE III – Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and integrate scalable and dependable backend systems that align with business and product needs.

• Spot and address bottlenecks, bugs, and operational challenges.

• Propel enhancements in scalability, performance, reliability, observability, and cost efficiency.

• Develop prototypes and proofs-of-concept for new products and features, including POCs to validate new AI initiatives.

• Assume full responsibility for projects from the design phase through deployment and ongoing production support.

• Work closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, QA teams, and other engineering teams.

• Lead the development and advancement of Sun King's AI Engineering capabilities, encompassing architecture, tools, development standards, and best practices.

• Define and implement the AI technology stack, ensuring the scalable, secure, reliable, and cost-effective integration of AI across engineering and business workflows.

• Design systems that merge LLMs, retrieval systems, business logic, databases, APIs, and operational tools.

• Assess emerging AI technologies, frameworks, and models, offering technical guidance on their adoption and integration within the organization.

• Mentor and support engineers in backend architecture, AI system design, and implementation best practices, nurturing AI expertise throughout the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in designing and developing scalable REST-based microservices and APIs using Java (Spring Boot) and Python.

• Strong background in SQL, database design, and query optimization.

• Proficient in working with AWS services such as EC2, RDS, and Lambda.

• Practical experience in building AI-powered applications or workflows in production settings.

• Solid understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures and their application to business challenges.

• Experience in designing and developing AI agents, copilots, workflow assistants, or intelligent automation systems.

• Knowledge of tool-calling, context management, prompt design, structured outputs, and techniques for mitigating hallucinations when integrating LLMs with business systems, APIs, and databases.

• Capability to design comprehensive AI-powered solutions that blend deterministic systems with LLM-driven reasoning.

• Previous experience in mentoring engineers and spearheading technical initiatives.
