Scrum Master – Delivery Manager, Azure DevOps, Payments

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete delivery of a greenfield, enterprise-level payment gateway platform.

• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Engineering, Security, Compliance, QA, and external partners.

• Take charge of agile ceremonies, roadmap management, risk tracking, release scheduling, and stakeholder reporting.

• Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and reviews.

• Mentor teams in agile principles to enhance flow, predictability, and collaboration.

• Eliminate obstacles, manage dependencies, and safeguard team delivery capacity.

• Plan, monitor, and report on delivery within a multi-team, cross-functional program.

• Develop and maintain delivery roadmaps, sprint plans, and release schedules.

• Proactively identify and mitigate risks.

• Coordinate security, DevOps, architecture, compliance, and QA functions.

• Manage Azure DevOps backlogs, sprint boards, dashboards, and delivery metrics.

• Collaborate with the Product Owner to ensure a prioritized backlog aligned with the product roadmap.

• Simplify technical complexities into clear delivery narratives for non-technical stakeholders.

• Promote ownership, accountability, and psychological safety across distributed teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience as a Scrum Master, Delivery Manager, or Agile Project Manager in a challenging technical delivery setting.

• Demonstrated expertise in delivering payment systems, payment gateways, or high-availability, high-security financial platforms.

• Proficient in English, both written and spoken.

• Hands-on experience in facilitating Scrum ceremonies.

• Ability to coach teams in agile methodologies and enhance flow, predictability, and collaboration.

• Proven ability to eliminate blockers, manage dependencies, and protect delivery capacity.

• Experience in end-to-end delivery planning, tracking, and reporting across a multi-team program.

• Skilled in creating delivery roadmaps, sprint plans, and release schedules.

• Proactive in identifying and mitigating risks.

• Coordination experience across security, DevOps, architecture, compliance, and QA teams.

• Hands-on proficiency in Azure DevOps for managing backlogs, sprint boards, dashboards, and delivery metrics.

• Experience working with a Product Owner to maintain a prioritized backlog in line with the roadmap.

• Familiarity with payment processes: authorization, capture, settlement, and refunds.

• Working knowledge of PCI-DSS, security best practices, and payments compliance.

• Awareness of cloud-native architectures, APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems.

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps/DevSecOps practices.

• Excellent facilitation and communication abilities.

• Capacity to influence without authority in a distributed, cross-functional environment.

• Comfortable in fast-paced, ambiguous settings.

• Proven track record in fostering ownership, accountability, and psychological safety.

• Nice to have: hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.

• Nice to have: background in fintech, e-commerce, or regulated industries.

• Nice to have: exposure to SAFe, LeSS, or Scrum@Scale methodologies.

• Nice to have: experience with third-party payment providers or acquirers.

• Nice to have: certifications such as CSM, PSM, PMP, SAFe SM, or equivalent.
