Scrum Master

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Lead and facilitate all essential Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to encourage continuous improvement.

• Establish and uphold the sprint cadence to ensure the team consistently achieves velocity and delivers dependable results.

• Identify and eliminate obstacles that hinder team progress, escalating issues as necessary to ensure prompt resolution.

• Coordinate activities among data engineering, natural language processing (NLP), and machine learning teams to facilitate effective cross-functional integration.

• Monitor and report on extensive sprint metrics such as velocity, burndown, and team capacity to aid in data-driven decision-making.

• Shield the team from external distractions while ensuring strong alignment with overall program objectives.

• Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to team members and stakeholders, ensuring adherence to Agile principles and best practices.

• Manage interdependencies among technical tracks and facilitate the resolution of blockers that affect multiple teams.

• Lead stakeholder demonstration sessions showcasing incremental program progress and enhancing stakeholder engagement.

• Coordinate sprint-related activities in line with overall program and project management requirements.

• Ensure that sprint outcomes meet scheduled project milestones and comply with Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables.

• Promote transparency by implementing visual management tools and ensuring clear, consistent communication of progress.

• Manage and maintain the project risk register, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and proactively addressed.

• Establish a regular reporting schedule to keep stakeholders informed about project status, risks, and achievements.

• Oversee the identification, refinement, and management of both product and sprint backlogs to ensure alignment with team priorities and capacity.

• Track daily sprint progress and collaborate on scheduling to ensure alignment with ongoing maintenance and operational activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field.

• Over 7 years of experience in agile project management.

• Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent certification.

• Direct experience in facilitating data science or analytics projects.

• Proven ability to enhance team velocity and delivery quality.

• Advanced knowledge of sprint planning techniques and agile metrics.

• Experience in identifying and resolving complex impediments across technical domains.

• Exceptional skills in facilitation and conflict resolution.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Demonstrated experience with agile project management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, etc.).

• Ability to work effectively in remote or hybrid team environments.

• Current NACI or capability to obtain one.
