Scientist II, Field Applications – Bioinformatics Support

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Provide training to customers on PacBio data analysis.

• Offer support to customers both prior to and after sales.

• Conduct data analysis tasks.

• Assist and empower customers and collaborators to ensure the effective use of PacBio data analysis software.

• Aid the sales team by delivering scientific presentations, engaging in technical discussions, and attending customer meetings.

• Relay customer feedback to product marketing and software development teams.

• Facilitate the rollout of new software and assist with its installation.

• Collaborate with customers and internal teams to prepare for new instrument installations.

⛳️ Requirements

• MSc/PhD in life sciences (molecular biology, biochemistry), bioinformatics, or a related discipline.

• Over 2 years of experience in bioinformatics, data management, or technical support.

• Extensive experience with high-throughput DNA sequencing data analyses and workflows.

• Familiarity with cutting-edge sequence analysis tools and processes, including sequence alignment and variant calling.

• Knowledge of Unix systems administration, networking, and large-scale computational hardware.

• Proficient in bash scripting, Python, and R programming.

• Strong troubleshooting skills and a proven track record in effective customer support practices.

• Experience presenting scientific findings both in-person and virtually to diverse audiences.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

• Candidates must have the necessary authorization to work in the United States without the requirement for current or future sponsorship.
