Scientific Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Lead and define the strategic vision for IME and scientific content solutions.

• Create evidence-driven content strategies, therapeutic area plans, and concepts for educational programs.

• Provide clinical guidance and oversight for IME and scientific content initiatives.

• Ensure that content is precise, up-to-date, evidence-informed, and defensible in medico-legal contexts.

• Establish quality benchmarks, content models, and scalable review processes.

• Act as a clinical expert and a point of escalation for intricate content decisions.

• Collaborate with editorial, product, commercial, and project teams to produce content and educational solutions.

• Keep abreast of new clinical evidence, healthcare trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in IME.

• Represent Wiley’s clinical proficiency to internal stakeholders, key opinion leaders, clients, and industry partners.

• Convert complex clinical and scientific ideas into user-friendly, actionable content.

⛳️ Requirements

• PhD, MD, or an equivalent medical qualification.

• Hands-on experience in conducting or reviewing Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs) or similar clinical review activities.

• Strong grasp of clinical evidence, guideline formulation, and assessment of scientific literature.

• Experience in content strategy, editorial work, medical affairs, medical communications, or a related healthcare sector.

• Demonstrated ability to convey complex clinical ideas to both clinical and non-clinical audiences.

• Excellent stakeholder management and collaborative skills in matrixed organizations.

• Preferred: clinical expertise in oncology, hematology, dermatology, neurology, general/internal medicine, or a related specialty.

• Preferred: familiarity with analytical chemistry, biopharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical biotechnology, or cell and molecular biology.

• Preferred: over 5 years of experience in content strategy, medical communications, or editorial leadership.

• Preferred: experience in designing content operations, taxonomy frameworks, or structured content models.

• Preferred: knowledge of AI- or ML-enabled content workflows, including content extraction, quality scoring, and summarization.

• Preferred: experience in scientific, technical, and medical publishing, health information, or clinical evidence services.
