School Counselor, Compliance & Student Engagement

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Oversee schoolwide attendance, engagement, and compliance metrics to pinpoint students who require intervention and assistance.

• Generate and evaluate attendance, contact, and engagement reports to identify students needing outreach, intervention, or welfare checks.

• Collaborate with educators, administrators, counselors, and support personnel to recognize students at risk of disengagement, chronic absenteeism, withdrawal, or academic failure.

• Act as the primary contact for students and families facing significant attendance, engagement, compliance, or intervention issues.

• Conduct outreach to students and families, hold intervention meetings, and follow up with conferences to promote improved attendance, engagement, and academic achievement.

• Maintain consistent communication and intervention support for students under Tier II and Tier III attendance and truancy interventions.

• Engage in and support the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) processes in the school, including intervention planning, execution, and progress assessment.

• Aid in the implementation and oversight of Academic Improvement Plans and other school intervention strategies.

• Attend Truancy Board meetings and fulfill necessary follow-up tasks, documentation, and monitoring of interventions.

• Assist in formulating and tracking attendance contracts, intervention strategies, and probation agreements as designated.

• Perform welfare checks and coordinate outreach for students identified as at-risk due to attendance, engagement, academic performance, or safety issues.

• Promote student retention and dropout prevention initiatives through proactive outreach, intervention, and family engagement.

• Help families navigate the student withdrawal process and assist with retention efforts when applicable.

• Serve as a liaison between Tennessee Connections Academy and educational, residential, treatment, or correctional facilities to enhance student attendance, engagement, and continuity of services.

• Collaborate with school personnel to identify and link students and families with suitable school and community resources.

• Support crisis response initiatives, welfare investigations, and student safety concerns as assigned.

• Report and refer critical incidents that threaten student well-being as required by law, administrative guidelines, or ethical standards.

• Assist in maintaining precise records and documentation related to attendance, interventions, truancy, compliance, and student support services.

• Contribute to schoolwide testing efforts, including student outreach, monitoring participation, and required travel for testing events.

• Facilitate professional development opportunities for teachers and school staff regarding attendance, engagement, intervention, and student support practices.

• Perform other duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Valid Tennessee School Counselor License.

• Bachelor’s Degree in School Counseling, Counselor Education, School Social Work, or related discipline.

• Minimum of three years of experience working with students and families in an educational environment.

• Experience in a public school setting.

• Strong technological proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.

• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Highly organized and punctual.

• Customer-oriented approach.

• High level of adaptability.

• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Team player with established leadership capabilities.

• Ability to analyze and leverage student data to inform interventions and enhance student success.

• Willingness to travel as necessary for state testing events, school meetings, truancy court hearings, and student support activities (may require overnight travel).

• Availability to work occasional evening hours, as needed to assist families.

• Capacity to work remotely.
