Scheduler – Project Controls Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain owner-controlled project timelines throughout all stages of capital project execution, emphasizing front-end loading (FEL) development.

• Consolidate contractor, self-performance, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning schedules into a cohesive execution strategy.

• Set and uphold scheduling standards, which include logic, calendars, activity coding, and methodologies for measuring progress.

• Evaluate, validate, and scrutinize contractor schedules for quality, realism, and alignment with owner milestones and business objectives.

• Update schedules using field-verified progress and supply forecasts for critical milestones and project completion.

• Identify critical and near-critical paths, communicating schedule risks and opportunities to project leadership.

• Conduct schedule impact assessments, change evaluations, and scenario analyses for scope modifications, execution decisions, and recovery strategies.

• Generate management-ready schedule outputs, such as milestone summaries, look-ahead views, and leadership dashboards.

• Assist execution, outages, and commissioning teams with planning and prioritization based on schedules.

• Collaborate with cost, risk, and procurement teams to ensure schedule integrity and alignment across disciplines.

• Mentor project teams and advocate for continuous enhancement in scheduling practices and schedule literacy.

• Spearhead project controls activities across assigned small to mid-capital projects.

• Establish and maintain integrated systems for cost, schedule, and progress control that meet owner expectations.

• Develop owner-controlled schedules and cost forecasts linked to business and milestone commitments.

• Review and validate contractor and internal project controls deliverables for precision, realism, and thoroughness.

• Monitor project performance, predict outcomes, and detect cost and schedule risks early.

• Execute change management, trend analysis, and impact assessments.

• Prepare management-ready reports summarizing cost, schedule, risk, and overall project health.

• Aid project managers with analysis focused on decision-making, what-if scenarios, and recovery planning.

• Align schedules, costs, procurement, and cash-flow forecasts.

• Encourage standardization, discipline, and ongoing improvement in project controls practices.

• Mentor schedulers, cost engineers, and project teams to enhance project controls capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in supporting capital projects within manufacturing, industrial, or outage settings.

• Strong understanding of CPM scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and change management.

• Proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Excel, and other project controls and reporting tools.

• Experience in managing or assisting with project controls/scheduling for small to mid-cap capital projects ($25MM-$100MM).

• Ability to convert complex schedule and cost data into clear, actionable insights.

• Excellent communication skills with field teams, contractors, and executive leadership.

• Capability to balance detailed analysis with executive-level communication.

• Strong owner mindset—objective, accountable, data-driven, and execution-oriented.

• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.

• Preferred: 10+ years of experience in supporting capital projects within manufacturing, industrial, or outage settings.

• Preferred: Experience in an owner-led project controls environment.

• Preferred: Experience in developing and maintaining an Owner Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) across multiple contractors and internal workstreams.

• Preferred: Experience in schedule quality and governance oversight.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Ecosys EPPM software.

• Preferred: Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud or Autodesk Build.

• Preferred: Knowledge of risk analysis tools such as Acumen Risk.

• Preferred: Experience with various ERP systems including SAP.

• Preferred: Background in pulp & paper, power, refining/chemical, and heavy manufacturing industries.
