This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Directly interact with customers, including Developers, Owners, Utilities, EPCs, and ISOs.
• Assist in the design and development of monitoring and control systems for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
• Program, install, troubleshoot, test, and commission Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for:
• Active Power Curtailment.
• Reactive Power Control.
• MET tower data acquisition.
• High Voltage substation SCADA.
• Power Plant Control (PPC) for Solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Energy Management Systems (EMS).
• Work with the following technologies and platforms:
• Controls: SEL-RTACs and ControlLogix.
• HMI: Ignition.
• Historian: Ignition, MSSQL, InfluxDB, and Canary Labs.
• Network: SEL, Cisco, Hirschmann, Fortigate, and Moxa.
• Troubleshooting: Putty, Wireshark.
• Create comprehensive design documentation, including System Architecture Diagrams, Device Points Lists, IP lists, Logic Diagrams, and HMI mockups.
• Produce project documentation such as commissioning documents, as-built drawings, operator manuals, and training materials.
• Collaborate with field technicians for on-site commissioning and installation support.
• Utilize diagnostic tools to troubleshoot complex monitoring and control systems.
• Perform any additional tasks as required by management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, or a related field, preferably with a focus on controls.
• Strong communication skills to interact with team members and business partners.
• Over 2 years of experience in IEC 61131-3/PLC programming, including structured text and function blocks.
• More than 2 years of experience in SCADA development; Ignition experience is a plus.
• Proficient in programming languages, with Python being a plus.
• Experience setting up virtual machines on physical servers.
• Knowledge of IEC 61131-3, Ladder Logic, Function Blocks, and Structured Text.
• Familiarity with industrial protocols such as Modbus-TCP, DNP3, OPC-UA, IEC 61850, and ICCP.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience participating in or leading Continuous Improvement/Lessons Learned programs.
• Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States.
• Willingness to travel, approximately 20-30%.
