SCADA and Controls Warranty Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee and troubleshoot SCADA and control systems for solar, solar and storage, and other hybrid facilities.

• Create and execute logic for intricate custom applications, conduct testing, and resolve challenging issues.

• Ensure proper functioning of control system components while complying with security protocols across networks.

• Integrate new systems, maintain current equipment, and reduce downtime during system malfunctions.

• Collaborate directly with developers, owners, utilities, O&M companies, and ISOs.

• Diagnose, test, and restore RTUs, PLCs, and HMIs for active power curtailment, reactive power control, MET tower data acquisition, high-voltage substation SCADA, and PPC/EMS/BESS systems.

• Utilize SEL-RTACs, ControlLogix, Ignition, MSSQL, InfluxDB, Canary Labs, SEL, Cisco, Hirschmann, Fortigate, Moxa, Putty, and Wireshark.

• Design system architecture diagrams, device point lists, IP lists, logic diagrams, and HMI mockups.

• Create testing documents, as-built drawings, operator manuals, and training resources.

• Coordinate with field technicians for on-site troubleshooting and warranty support.

• Manage warranty claims, liaise with vendors and manufacturers, and maintain claim documentation.

• Evaluate performance data, identify trends and improvements, and produce performance and maintenance reports.

• Apply data-driven strategies to enhance system reliability and efficiency.

• Execute other tasks as required by management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, or a related field, ideally with a controls focus.

• Strong communication skills to interact with team members and business partners.

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in IEC 61131-3/PLC programming, including structured text and function blocks.

• At least 2 years of controls development experience with SEL RTAC is advantageous.

• More than 2 years of SCADA development experience, with Ignition knowledge being a plus.

• Proficient in programming languages, with Python as a plus.

• Experience in setting up virtual machines on physical servers.

• Familiarity with industrial protocols such as Modbus-TCP, DNP3, OPC-UA, IEC 61850, and ICCP.

• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Experience participating in or leading Continuous Improvement/Lessons Learned initiatives.

• Must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States.

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional night shifts.
